About

Celebrating our 10th year, Running for Hope Association would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the outpour of community and corporate support through the years. Every year we work towards a goal to raise money for the children and families served at Advocate Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House® near Advocate Children’s Hospital. This year is no different, but we do hope that with your help, our overall 10 year goal can help us to get past the 1 million dollar mark of total money we have raised.

Half of the proceeds raised from this event will help to benefit The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division at Advocate Children's Hospital, which is one of the largest and most respected programs of its kind in the Midwest. This team provides the latest advances in diagnostics and treatment for all types of childhood cancers and hematologic disorders, along with exceptional support services—all in a family-centered setting. Our team of pediatric cancer care experts is dedicated to the mission of treating all children with pediatric cancer and hematologic diseases with the goal of a cure.  As part of Advocate Health Care, Advocate Children’s Hospital (ACH) is the largest network provider of pediatric services in Illinois and among the top 10 in the nation. The two main campuses are located in Park Ridge in the northwest and Oak Lawn in the southwest. Additional services are accessible at other Advocate hospitals throughout the state. The hospital is staffed by more than 400 pediatricians and 230 pediatric subspecialists who offer a wide range of specialized services for children.

The overwhelming and sometimes terrifying reality of seeking critical medical treatment for a child is something that too many families need to face.  Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana understands these challenges and they are committed to making a difficult time a little easier by offering a place for families to stay together near their children at a Ronald McDonald House® or at a Ronald McDonald Family Room®. The other half of this year’s proceeds raised will once again benefit the House. In Oak Lawn, the Ronald McDonald House® near Advocate Children’s Hospital (RMH® near Advocate Children’s Hospital) is located directly across the street from the hospital and allows families to eat, sleep and find the emotional support they need just steps from where their child is being treated. Since opening in 2008, the House has served as a ‘home away from home’ for more than 40,000 family nights of care during hospital stays for their young children.

This year we would like to take the opportunity to recognize all cancer survivors. Our event happens to share it’s special date with National Cancer Survivors Day on the first Sunday of each June. We want all participants to celebrate their journey and honor those who have been affected by this awful disease. Our organization would like to make it a day to acknowledge survivors’ strength and courage and the contributions of their family, friends, caregivers, and healthcare providers who have helped them.
