Thank- you to everyone who partcipated in the 2019 Running For Hope 5K.  Results are below.  Awrds can be picked up at RMH near Adovcate starting on Monday.

Celebrating our 12th year, Running for Hope Association would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of community and corporate support through the years. Every year we work towards a goal to raise money for the children and families served at Advocate Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House® near Advocate Children’s Hospital. This year is no different, with over $900,000 raised in the past eleven years, we hope to hit the 1 million dollar mark this year!

The overwhelming and sometimes terrifying reality of seeking critical medical treatment for a child is something that too many families need to face. Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana understands these challenges and they are committed to making a difficult time a little easier by offering a place for families to stay together near their children at a Ronald McDonald House® or at a Ronald McDonald Family Room®. Half of this year’s proceeds raised will once again benefit Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children’s Hospital (RMH® near Advocate Children’s Hospital), RMH near Advocate Children’s Hospital is located directly across the street from the hospital and allows families to eat, sleep and find the emotional support they need just steps from where their child is being treated. Since opening in 2008, the House has served as a ‘home away from home’ for more than 47,000 family nights of care during hospital stays for their young children.

The other half of proceeds raised from this event will help to benefit the Healthy Active Living Program at Advocate Children's Hospital- Oak Lawn.  The Healthy Active Living (HAL) program is alifestyle and behavior modification program for kids ages 2-18 who struggle with excess weight gain. With a personalized focus on the family’s needs, we help children establish and achieve specific goals for creating healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

As part of Advocate Health Care, Advocate Children’s Hospital is the largest network provider of pediatric services in Illinois and among the top 10 in the nation. The two main campuses are located in Park Ridge in the northwest and Oak Lawn in the southwest. The hospital is staffed by more than 400 pediatricians and 230 pediatric subspecialists who offer a wide range of specialized services for children.

Finally, our annual event happens to share it’s special date with National Cancer Survivor Day, so once again we honor those who have been affected by this awful disease. Our organization would like to make it a day to acknowledge survivors’ strength and courage and the contributions of their family, friends, caregivers, and healthcare providers who have helped them.
